Asked at qepHom 2022:
What is the difference between a qID (joke) and a lut tlhaQ (funny story)?
On the tape "Power Klingon", we learn a lot about telling jokes, but at the end of the tape, the Klingon asks: meb, lut tlhaQ DaSov'a'? In the word list of "Klingon for the Galactic Traveler", which appeared on year later, we find the word qID for "joke".
MO: Often interchangeable, but generally speaking, if the narrative wasn't particularly funny until the last line, that would be a qID while a lut tlhaQ is a narrative that's funny, at least sporadically, throughout. Note that to play a practical joke on someone, to trick on someone, is not qID (the verb meaning "joke"). It's chem "prank."
