Accurately describing the sounds of Klingon requires complex terminology, beyond what I normally use. The information here is meant only as a general guide to pronunciation.
The best way to master Klingon pronunciation is to spend time among Klingon speakers and immerse yourself in their daily speech.
The primary writing system used in this guide was developed by Dr. Okrand while writing The Klingon Dictionary. While some students of the language find it unsightly, others see it as a unique identifying feature.
pIqaD
The native writing system is called pIqaD. The canonical works say nothing about it. There have been many artist representations of it over the years, but none have been usable in any practical sense.
Early in the Klingon Language Institute's existance it received information, through another organization who claimed to have received information from someone at Paramount Pictures, about a collection of symbols that had been mapped to the 26 Klingon letters.
