Notes
N.B. chelwI' "accountant, financier, someone who deals in finances, accounting, etc." (slang) KGT KGT 148: Mildly derogatory in its slang usage, this word literally means "adder, one who adds". There is no known non-slang counterpart, though HuchQeD (literally, "money science) is often used for economics. chelwI'pu' are viewed with contempt by the ruling warrior caste. (Cf. DS9 "House of Quark") To add (i.e. do addition) chen and boq are used: e.g. (4 + 3 = 7 wej boq loS; chen Soch "four allies with three; seven forms". It is also possible to reverse the two numbers being added: loS boq wej; chen Soch; 2 + 1 = 3 wa' boq cha'; chen wej "two allies with one, three forms". N.B. not *luboq with the lu- prefix since "in these mathematical constructions, the numbers, even those higher than one, are considered singular from a grammatical point of view" (HQ 9.3).
