latlh De'/Additional Information

This is the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine first season trading card. It features a text similar to the classic opening voice over of the original Star Trek series. This card was available in different languages in the set: in Klingon (card 99), Japanese (98), Spanish (97), French (96), German (95) and finally English (01). The text of the Klingon card was reproduced in HolQeD 3:2, p.9. (Usually abbreviated DS99, though sometimes abbreviated S99 or DSN99.) The pIqaD text is non-standard.

When a Klingon warrior dies or is killed, other Klingons may perform a ceremonial howl or yell as part of the Klingon death ritual. The eyes of the fallen Klingon are opened and others roar in a great crescendo. This yell is victorious in nature, rather than mournful and also serves to warn the other dead that a Klingon warrior is coming.
