English: main or principal purpose, ikigai, raison d’être

Japanese: 生き甲斐いきがい

KLCP Level: 3

Notes

Whan Maltz was asked about the Japanese word "ikigai", which means something like "Thing worth living for", his first response was tlhIngan wo'. Since that was not what the requester asked for, we needed to ask Maltz again. His first response apparently was a joke.

When I asked him about it again, he remembered the word Ho'latbeD. This could be translated as "raison d'être" or "ikigai" (though he never heard about ikigai before) or, more generally "main or principal purpose (for something or of someone)." It's not the same thing as ngoQ.
