(KGT 64): A general term for spear is naQjej, but, of course, there are specific types of spears. The ghIntaq, for example, is a battle spear, though it is also used ceremonially. The shaft of a spear is the tIH; the sharp tip or spearhead is the QIn.
CULTURAL NOTES:
qa'vaq *qa'vak* is a traditional game involving throwing a ghIntaq spear through rolling a half-meter hoop gho that hones the skills of the hunt. (Seen in TNG "Birthright, Part II".)
A *gin'tak" is also an advisor so trusted he has been made part of the family. He wears a special ring, bearing the crest of the House he has pledged his life to defend. Worf said "K'mtar is gin'tak to the House of Mogh". (TNG "Firstborn") The elderly Tumek may have been gin'tak to the House of Kozak; he continued to work for his widow, Grilka. (DS9 "House of Quark")
